Horizon Blue Aerobatics offers courses to serious pilots who are ready to expand their own horizons and enjoy the thrill of aerobatics taught by a safety and FAR conscious instructor with a vast experience flying both high performance civilian and military aircraft. The Introductory and Basic aerobatic instruction course offered by Horizon Blue Aerobatics is not designed for the seasoned aerobatic competitor, but rather pilots at all levels of experience who wish to improve their own individual skills and situational awareness by flying aerobatics in a safe and controlled environment. The Advanced aerobatic course offered by Horizon Blue Aerobatics is designed for the pilot who already is familiar with aerobatics or has a background in aerobatics wishing to further their training and proficiency by flying more complex maneuvers in an unlimited aerobatic aircraft. Designed and taught to competition standards, the Advanced aerobatic course will prove to expand both your physical, mental, and skill envelope with more advanced maneuvers such as snap rolls, vertical rolls, and inverted spins.

The aircraft that Horizon Blue employs is a 1997 Extra 200 aircraft capable of unlimited aerobatics. The Extra 200 is one of only a few aircraft certified by the FAA for unlimited aerobatics and is rated for +/-10g's in the Aerobatic I category. The Extra also has one of the best safety records in the business and is widely used by industry experts as the aircraft of choice including world renowned aerobatic champion and air show performer Patty Wagstaff, and senior aerobatic champion and decorated air show performer Wayne Handley. COURSES:
 

Introduction:


Includes 1 hour ground instruction and two flight sessions introducing fundamentals of aerobatics. Student will experience proper symmetrical g loading techniques and physiological techniques for safely combating the forces of acceleration. Items introduced will include high AOA stalls and unusual attitude recovery, spins including unaccelerated upright spins, loops, aileron rolls, and split-S's. Flight sessions are normally accomplished same day weather and other factors permitting

Basic Aerobatics:

Includes 2 hours ground instruction and three flight sessions. First flight session will concentrate on areas similar to those introduced during the Introduction course. Second and third flight will be an increased g loading flight where the student will experience greater than 1 negative g and will learn the basics of Cuban 8's, cloverleafs, barrel rolls, vertical climbs, accelerated spins, immelmans, and negative g flight maneuvers.

Advanced Aerobatics:


Includes 3 hours of ground instruction and four flight sessions. The advanced aerobatics course is for the seasoned pilot who has already been exposed to or has some experience flying aerobatic aircraft either in the military or as a civilian. This course is designed for the student to seek out and fly the more competition style and air show type aerobatic maneuvers being flown by unlimited and air show pilots in the industry today. During this course the serious aerobatic student will encounter accelerated spins, both upright and inverted, hammerheads, snap rolls, precision rolls and point rolls, high negative g pushes and humpty turns and tail slides. The course will build on either the principles of the basic course and/or the client's own individual experience. This course will prove to be both very demanding physically, mentally and will provide students with the ultimate in aerobatic situational awareness, flying skills, confidence, and a degree of safety only known to those pilots flying unlimited aerobatics and air show performances throughout the world today.
